Discovering Haynes Ranch

Haynes Ranch is a remarkable site with remnants of its past scattered across the landscape. We were captivated by the weathered barn and the old farmhouse, both standing as resilient testaments to a bygone era. Walking through these historic structures, we imagined the bustling life that once filled this place.

A Visit to the Haynes Family Cemetery

A short distance from the ranch, we visited the cemetery where members of the Haynes family are laid to rest. The peaceful site is a somber reminder of the family’s significant role in shaping the region. As we read the inscriptions on the weathered headstones, we felt a profound connection to the history surrounding us.

The First Customs House

Another highlight of our visit was exploring the site of the first customs house. It was fascinating to stand where early settlers and traders once conducted their business at this important border crossing. The stories and history embedded in this site are a valuable part of Osoyoos’ heritage.
